New Michael Espat Bridge opens in Punta Gorda

By Zoila Palma:  A new landmark now stands in southern Belize with the official opening of the Michael Espat Bridge in Punta Gorda.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) noted that the modern structure features dual traffic lanes and sidewalks on both sides, significantly improving access for residents and businesses. Elevated by 2.3 meters, the bridge also allows for smoother boat passage beneath.

Named in honor of the late Minister Michael Espat, the bridge recognizes his longstanding dedication to the development of the Toledo District and the people of southern Belize.
