Tragedy at Hummingbird Community: man killed by bull at ranch

By Aaron Humes: A tragic incident occurred Monday morning when Enrique Barrera, 48, was fatally attacked by his own bull Jet, at his ranch during routine farm work.

According to reports from his wife, Adelma Barrera, to Channel 5 News, on the day of the incident, he went to the ranch to feed his animals. His father was nearby but not in close proximity when he heard a scream and quickly rushed to the scene.

Enrique was found on the ground, bleeding heavily. She immediately contacted help and emergency services transported him to the Southern Regional Hospital. Enrique, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries en route, due to excessive bleeding.

The family has confirmed that the bull was subsequently put down after the attack. Police have taken statements from the family and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Enrique had been living in Belize since he was 19 and was known as a dedicated and loving husband and father of three.
