Bus driver may face charges after fatal knockdown of teenager

By Aaron Humes: A tragic traffic accident on the George Price Highway has left a community in mourning following the death of 16-year-old Terrell Caleb Cardinez. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. Thursday, between miles 16 and 17, involving a Yutong bus belonging to the Floralia Bus Company and the young cyclist.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police, confirmed that the driver of the bus, Jordi Salazar, has been issued a notice of intended prosecution as police continue their investigation. Cardinez was riding his bicycle from Hattieville Village towards Belize City when he suddenly turned left onto the highway, entering the path of the bus.

Investigations continue into the specific circumstances leading to the collision.
