By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Thursday’s Group D action delivered clarity and tension as the United States secured their place in the quarterfinals, while Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago battled to a draw that leaves both sides with work to do. With one matchday remaining, the race for second place is wide open.

The United States booked their spot in the quarterfinals with a narrow 1–0 win over Saudi Arabia. After a first-half scare in the 31st minute — when Abdulrahman Al Obud nearly put the visitors ahead — U.S. defender Chris Richards made a crucial block to deny the chance. Richards then turned match-winner in the 63rd minute, finishing with his left foot inside the box after connecting with a free kick from Sebastian Berhalter.

Haiti were reduced to ten men in the 39th minute when Jean-Kévin Duverne was sent off, but they still managed to take the lead early in the second half. Trinidad and Tobago responded in the 64th minute, capitalizing on their numerical advantage as Reon Moore slotted home the equalizer. The draw keeps both teams in contention heading into the final group match.
