Oklahoma City Thunder win NBA Championship after Tyrese Haliburton goes down with Achilles injury in Game 7 finale

By Aaron Humes: In only the 20th Game 7 to be played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) championship round, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers 103-91.

The Pacers had forced Game 6 after winning at home behind a courageous performance from injured star Tyrese Haliburton, who strained his calf in Game 5 at Oklahoma City.

Haliburton went down with with an injury to his right Achilles tendon in the first quarter and pounded the court in frustration before being led away.

The Pacers fought their way to a one point lead at half time but the Thunder pulled away in the second half for their first NBA title since moving from Seattle, Washington (the former Seattle Supersonics had won in 1979.)

The Pacers were bidding to become the third former American Basketball Association (ABA) to win an NBA championship following the San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets.
