By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Paris Saint-Germain marched into the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals with a commanding 2-0 win over Bayern Munich at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, thanks to second-half goals from Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé. The match, played in sweltering 32°C heat, ended in high drama, with PSG finishing with nine men and a late Bayern penalty appeal overturned by VAR.

Doué opens, Dembélé finishes
The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when 19-year-old Désiré Doué calmly slotted home after Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer slipped while attempting to close him down. The goal rewarded PSG’s growing pressure and gave them a crucial edge in a tightly contested affair.

Despite being reduced to ten men after Willian Pacho’s red card in the 81st minute, PSG remained composed. Then, in the 90+6th minute, Ousmane Dembélé sealed the result with a blistering counterattack, finishing coolly to double the lead and crush Bayern’s hopes of a comeback.

🟥 PSG finish with nine
The Parisians’ night wasn’t without turbulence. After Pacho’s dismissal, fellow defender Lucas Hernandez was also sent off in the 90+2nd minute, leaving PSG with just nine players for the final moments. Despite the numerical disadvantage, PSG’s defensive structure held firm.

🖥️ VAR denies Bayern late lifeline
Bayern nearly found a way back into the match ten minutes into stoppage time when they appealed for a penalty following a challenge inside the box. Referee Anthony Taylor initially paused play, but after a VAR review, it was determined there had been no physical contact—no penalty was awarded, much to Bayern’s frustration.
