United States Embassy in Belize celebrates 249th Anniversary of American Independence

By Zoila Palma:  On July 1, 2025, the United States Embassy in Belize hosted a celebration to mark the 249th anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America.

Chargé d’Affaires David Hodge delivered opening remarks, highlighting the enduring partnership between the United States and Belize. He emphasized the shared values, strong diplomatic ties, and ongoing collaboration between both nations.

Governor General Dame Froyla Tzalam expressed appreciation on behalf of the Belizean people, thanking the U.S. government for its continued support and ongoing initiatives that benefit Belize in areas such as education, healthcare, and development.

The event was well attended by a distinguished group of guests, including Prime Minister John Briceño, Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton, various ministers of government, CEOs, alumni of U.S. exchange programs, and members of the media.

The celebration served as a reflection of the strong and growing relationship between the United States and Belize, and reaffirmed a shared commitment to cooperation, friendship, and mutual progress.
