Ministry of Natural Resources warns of false “land agents”

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Natural Resources issued a press release today informing the public of persons falsely posing to be agents of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

According to the release, there are persons claiming to be authorized to sell national land and collect monies on behalf of the Ministry and Government of Belize.

The ministry says that the Government of Belize does not make use of agents to sell national land or to collect monies on its behalf.

Anyone wishing to lease, purchase or make any other application pertaining to national lands must visit the main office of the Lands and Surveys Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources in Belmopan or any of the district offices to fill out the necessary forms.

The ministry reminds the public that all payments of monies to the Government of Belize in respect of any application or services rendered at the Lands and Surveys Department are to be made only at the cashier at the main office in Belmopan or one of the district offices and an official Government of Belize receipt will be issued.

The public is advised to immediately report any person claiming to be an agent of the Ministry of Natural Resources or claiming to collect payment on behalf of the Government of Belize.
