Drug plane suspects get bail

Posted: Thursday, September 20, 2018. 12:01 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Peter Friezen, Norman Anthony and Superintendent of Police David Chi, three of the five men arrested in connection with the recently landed drug plane all received bail in the Supreme Court this morning.

The three men went before Justice Francis Cummerbatch, who granted them bail in the amount of $150,000, along with the conditions that they report weekly to police and not leave Belize.

They are to reappear in court on November 1.

Attorney Dickie Bradley, who represented Chi and Friezen, told the media that the bail amount shows that the court takes the allegations against them very seriously. Bradley also said that he was pleased that, despite the severity of the charges, the court still granted bail.

“Your liberty is important no matter what the allegations are,” Bradley said.
