Pest Control Operators complete training

By BBN Staff: Nine Pest Control Operators from the Pesticides Control Board (PCB) were recognized this week for completing a special training program.

The nine officers were recognized at a ceremony in Belmopan on Monday, for completing an updated training for trade applicators involved in urban or structural pest control.

The training contained 48 hours of theoretical courses divided into three modules, with an evaluation following each module, and a final practical evaluation.

“The Pesticides Control Board is cognizant of the need to update legislation governing this industry, to ensure that all persons carrying out urban pest control have attained the required level of certification training adopted best practices and continuously demonstrate professional ethics,” the PCB said in a statement.

The PCB also encouraged food handling establishments, hotels, banks, public and private sector enterprises, or simply in need of assistance in the management of specific structural pests, are urged to seek professional service from duly certified Pest Control Operators.

The program graduates will be subjected to regulatory monitoring to ensure compliance with approved standards.
