By BBN Staff:  Health experts around the world are grappling with the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) and the social and economic havoc it is creating. In light of this the Government of Belize has called a press conference for tomorrow, Thursday, 12th March at 3 p.m.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow and the Minister of Health, Pablo Marin will be leading the press conference to discuss and update the nation on Covid-19.

Today, the World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a pandemic and urged governments around the world to take action to protect their people.

While the spread of the Coronavirus appear to be slowing in China, other countries are dealing with its rapid spread. Several governments have installed travel bans and Italy is in a complete lock-down. Today, President Trump announced a temporary travel ban on European countries.

Locally, the Ministry of Health confirms that there is still no confirmed case of Covid-19 in Belize. However, earlier this week, the Ministry of Education embarked on an awareness campaign and today’s Cabinet meeting paid particular attention to Covid-19.
