ComPol says Marco Vidal’s recovery going well

Posted: Thursday, July 9, 2020. 3:29 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Assistant Commissioner of Police Marco Vidal, made the news this week after he was hospitalized following a stroke on Tuesday, but Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, said today that Vidal’s recovery is going well.

Williams commended Vidal this week for being a determined person and says he is convinced Vidal will eventually return to the department.

“I was with him this morning and he is in very good spirits, he is walking around, and in our briefing from the doctor yesterday the doctor said that his condition has improved ‘significantly’…” Williams said.

Willaims added that in Vidal’s absence, he will oversee operations along with Deputy Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster, who is the national head of operations. This arrangement will be temporary while they are learning the extent of Vidal’s absence. If it is that Vidal may be gone for an extended period, Williams said that he will consider putting someone in Vidal’s place temporarily until he is fit to return.

Vidal, who has a history of taking a hardline stance to combat crime, also reportedly has a history of hypertension, which may have been exasperated during the massive police operation which, he oversaw on Tuesday and resulted in the detention of almost 100 people.
