COVID-19 vaccinations of health care workers get underway

By Aaron Humes: The Government is hitting the ground running on vaccinating frontline health staff with the supply of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines supplied from Barbados via India. 

This morning, Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat will be touring vaccine sites in Belize City, San Ignacio and Belmopan along with the press. 

The tour began at the Central Health Region office (formerly Bliss School of Nursing) off Princess Margaret Drive, then heads west. 

Healthcare workers are being vaccinated across the country between March 2 and 5 at the following sites: Corozal District, Corozal Community Hospital (March 2, 9:00 a.m.); Orange Walk District, Northern Regional Hospital, Orange Walk Town (March 2, 1:00 p.m. and March 3, 9:00 a.m.); Belize District, Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, Belize City, March 3-5, 8:30 a.m.; Matron Roberts Polyclinic, Belize City, March 2-5, 8:30 a.m.; Central Health Region, Belize City, March 2-5, 8:30 a.m.; San Pedro Polyclinic, San Pedro Town, March 2-5, 8:30 a.m.; Belize Medical Associates, March 2 and 4, 8:30 a.m.; Integral Clinic, March 2 and 4, 8:30 a.m.; Cayo District, San Ignacio Community Hospital, San Ignacio, March 2 at 10 a.m. and March 4 at 9 a.m.; Belmopan, Western Regional Hospital, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. and March 4 at 1:00 p.m.; Stann Creek District, Southern Regional Specialist Clinic, Dangriga, March 2, 8:30 a.m.; Independence Polyclinic, Independence, March 2, 8:30 a.m.; Toledo District, Isabel Palma Polyclinic, Punta Gorda Town, March 2, 10:00 a.m. and Punta Gorda Hope Building, March 2, 10:00 a.m. 

Even after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, the public is advised to continue to follow the Ministry’s advice by wearing a mask when in public, staying six feet apart, washing and sanitizing hands often, and staying at home unless conducting essential business. Be COVID-19 safe, get vaccinated when your turn comes.
