Woman charged for aggravated assault with a knife and insulting words against her step-father, granted bail

By BBN Staff: Today, a 24-year-old Belize City woman was arraigned on charges of insulting words and aggravated assault against her step-father Keith Yearwood.

Kayjah Aujahn Burgess appeared unrepresented in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

She was granted bail in the sum of $1,300 which she was able to meet.

Allegations are that on May 2, she pulled a knife on Yearwood during an altercation and threatened to kill him. Yearwood pulled a machete to defend himself, but Burgess’ mother got between them and that’s when she insulted him.
