International News: Five dead, 18 injured following mass shooting at LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado

By Benjamin Flowers: Authorities in Colorado Springs, Colorado, have confirmed that five people are dead and at least 18 injured following a mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub on Saturday night, CNN reports.

The 22-year-old shooter entered the club just before midnight and immediately opened fire at patrons.

Several patrons confronted and fought the shooter, eventually subduing him until police arrived.

As many as 39 officers responded to the scene after several 911 calls were made, and the shooter was apprehended alive.

The shooter is currently being treated at an undisclosed hospital for injuries sustained while he was being subdued.

An unknown number of the injured patrons are listed in critical condition.
