Jesus Sacul dies following police chase in Orange Walk

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Jesus Sacul died at the Northern Regional Hospital following a police chase that ended in a collision on Belize/Corozal Road.

The chase began after police officers spotted Sacul, along with 19-year-old Jairo Guerra, leaving a known drug dealer’s house on a motorcycle. Officers say they observed what appeared to be a firearm in the possession of the two men, and therefore they pursued the motorcycle.

According to the police, the chase ended in a collision when Sacul and Guerra’s motorcycle slammed into the police mobile.

Details surrounding the exact cause of Sacul’s death and the condition of Guerra are yet to be revealed. The police department has launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.

The incident has sparked protests at the Northern Regional Hospital about police procedures during chases and the safety of both officers and suspects involved. Residents are even questioning the necessity of the chase and claim that it was a waist bag that police saw as both Sacul and Guerra are delivery men.
