Unsettled weather persists over Belize: Coastal and inland showers expected

Posted: Wednesday, September 13, 2023. 5:54 am CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belizeans can anticipate another day of moist and unstable conditions, according to the latest weather report from the National Meteorological Service of Belize. The coming 24 hours promise to bring more clouds, punctuated by showers and thunderstorms.

As the night settles in, coastal regions will see most of the rain activity. Residents are advised to keep their umbrellas close at hand, as showers and possible thunderstorms are expected to continue intermittently. By daybreak, the weather is predicted to remain largely overcast, with the showers gradually shifting from the coast to the mainland by afternoon.

For those planning marine activities, they can expect winds coming from the East-Northeast, blowing at a gentle 5-15 knots. The sea state is described as “slight,” with wave heights of just 1-3 feet. This makes it a relatively calm day for small craft operators and fisherfolk.

On the temperature front, coastal areas will see highs of 88°F and lows of 77°F. In contrast, the inland areas can expect a warmer day with highs reaching 92°F, while nighttime temperatures dip to 73°F. The hill regions offer a cooler respite with highs at 81°F and lows at 68°F.

Looking forward, Wednesday night into Thursday promises clearer skies. While the general forecast suggests mainly fair conditions, the southern parts of Belize may experience a few more showers come Wednesday night.

Additionally, for those keeping an eye on the skies, today’s sunset is set for 5:56 PM, while tomorrow’s sunrise will brighten our skies at 5:40 AM. Tonight, look for the moon to set at 5:24 PM and make its appearance again at 5:18 AM.

In these changing weather conditions, BBN recommends residents remain prepared, and as always, exercise caution while on roads or waterways.

Stay tuned for further updates and stay safe, Belize!
