By Celeste Chang: The Belize Public Service Walk of Recognition ceremony was commemorated yesterday, marking its inclusion in the 2023 September celebrations calendar in Belize.
This prestigious event honored public servants who have contributed over 30 years of service to Belize. The initiative aims to celebrate both women and men who have devoted their lives to the betterment of the nation through public service.
Gareth Murillo, Registrar of the Cooperative for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized the significance of their commitment, stating, “Public service is a noble endeavor. Many of us here have dedicated three-fifths of our lives to such service.” He concluded with an inspiring quote: “You are not merely here to earn a livelihood. You are here to empower the world to thrive more abundantly, with an enhanced vision and a heightened sense of hope and accomplishment. You are here to enrich the world, and you diminish yourself if you neglect this mission.”
Henry Charles Usher, the Minister of Public Service, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, also addressed the attendees. He expressed deep gratitude for their unwavering commitment, remarking, “In truth, you are the true patriots. You drive the development of this nation, ensuring the machinery of government functions seamlessly.” He continued, “You guarantee that services for Belizeans and international visitors are provided efficiently and effectively. I extend my heartfelt thanks for all you’ve done.”
BBN extends its warm congratulations to all those honored. Your unwavering dedication to our nation is deeply appreciated.
