By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On October 10, 2023, the Prime Minister commenced his annual national tour.

During the 2nd day of his tour, Prime Minister John Briceño visited the southernmost village of Barranco.

PM  Briceño was welcomed by the students and staff of St. Joseph R.C. Primary School and members of the community in Barranco.

He shared that it warmed his heart to see the blending of cultures as the students of different ethnicities performed their good morning song and the national anthem in Garifuna.

Following the school visit, the Prime Minister stopped at the cemetery to pay homage to Punta Rock legend and Barranco native, the late Andy Palacio.

Prime Minister Briceño shared with the students that he enjoys Palacio’s music and greatly appreciates his contribution to Belizean culture.

Prime Minister Briceño also joined Area Representatives Mike Espat and Oscar Requena at a community meeting where they listened to the concerns of residents and spoke about the work and projects of the Government of Belize.
