Police investigating fatal crash of stolen plane at Placencia Airstrip

By Aaron Humes: Investigations continue at this hour into the incident at Placencia Airstrip early this morning, which resulted in two deaths after an accident involving a stolen Cessna Caravan from Maya Island Air.

Police have confirmed that a security guard working at the airstrip was held up by four armed men and tied up. The guard said that thereafter, he heard the sound of an aircraft engine starting, and shortly after that, a loud bang and explosion. Police and fire crews arrived to find the aircraft on fire.

Two sets of charred human remains were found inside the aircraft, but to date, there is no sign of the other co-conspirators as Police search the surrounding area.

Police Investigations continue.
