CEOs contracts coming up for review – Will Home Affairs CEO Kevin Arthurs be leaving?

Posted: Tuesday, October 31, 2023. 10:38 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: According to Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries Kareem Musa, he hasn’t heard from his Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kevin Arthurs as to whether he will resign now, or wait out the expiry of his contract in November.

Today Minister Musa revealed that “You might know all CEO contracts are coming up for renewal, I think in November of this year; it marks the three-year anniversary, but I haven’t heard that as yet.”

Musa remarked that Arthurs detailed his circumstances before agreeing to take the job: “I know that the CEO had intimated to me upon taking on this very important role that it would be a huge pay deduction for him, because as you know he is an attorney at law. And so, he assured me that he could only give me three years in the first instance so it is quite possible that he might not be renewing.”

If he does not, Musa says the Ministry will be ready: “I think there always has to be a succession plan in any ministry, in any department and especially ours at Home Affairs, so of course there has to be that consideration.”

Both Musa and Arthurs as well as Commissioner of Police Chester Williams have been regularly criticized by the Opposition United Democratic Party and immediate predecessor Michael Peyrefitte for perceived failings of the Ministry, including calling for their resignation.
