By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 14, 2023, the National Community-Oriented Policing Unit through partnership with the Taiwan Embassy and the British High Commission, held a toy-sharing event for over 100 children in Belize City.

“Our objectives remain constant, to support young people to become successful nation builders. Other objectives are: Strengthening ties by actively participating in philanthropy promoting a positive image of law enforcement, fostering trust and understanding,” Commander of Community Policing Howell Gillett noted.

“Supporting children from challenging areas aligns with law enforcement’s broader commitment to the overall welfare of the community, creating a safer and more supportive environment,” Gillett added.

Prime Minister John Briceno was present to spread Christmas cheer with the children along with Taiwan Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Kate Reynolds, Acting British High Commissioner to Belize and ACP Hilberto Romero, Commander of Eastern Division.
