Farmers celebrate opening of 4.720 Miles of Valley of Peace Road, Cayo

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise Jose Ableardo Mai joined the opening ceremony of 4.720 miles of the Valley of Peace Road.

The event took place at the Valley of Peace Community Center in the Cayo District, where farmers, and community members gathered to witness the event.

Attendees included Juan Arias, Chairman of Valley of Peace, Dr. Osmond Martinez, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Economic Development, and Santiago Juan, Assistant District Engineer in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing.

The highlight of the day was the ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing not just the opening of a road but a pathway to brighter opportunities for our farmers and their produce.

“That newly opened road is a promise kept from Plan Belize, making life easier for the farmers, by ensuring their products reach the market hassle-free by connecting their farms to the market seamlessly,” Minister Mai expressed.

The Ministry noted that this achievement is a step towards supporting the agricultural community and making their daily lives a little brighter.
