Unsung heroes

By Audrey Matura: Let’s not forget the valient work of Cpl Aleem Lopez, of the Belize Police Department and Ronaldo “Roney” Logan of Paradise Cafe along with Erlin Martinez who risked their lives to apprehend the evil shooter/murderer Robert Joseph who was on a shooting rampage at the market plaza in Belmopan. 

These men truly deserve a medal for their heroic work.  Cpl Lopez can be seen in a video in action and getting to disarm Joseph and quickly Logan and Martinez helped to hold down the shooter.  Martinez improvised a handcuff.  Their action helped to stop the further shooting of the remainder of the family members of Laura Fiorito, who were clearly the target.

I call on Clyde Williams as Commissioner of Police and Kareem Musa as minister of national security as well as Pablo Cawich as Mayor of City of Belmopan and Oscar Roberto Mira as Area Representative to give some recognition and commendation to these men.  Let’s honour our people when they do good for others.  Clyde Williams Kareem Musa Pablo Cawich Oscar Roberto Mira

I believe that shooter was so brazen he would not have stopped until the other children and family members were killed. He was out for blood 💔

The quick action of these men also kept the peace as there were people so angry they would have attacked and possibly kill the shooter had Cpl Lopez not intervene.
