Contractor finds human remains in San Pedro

By Horace Palacio: Construction work in Belize took an unexpected turn when workers unearthed what appeared to be human remains. Police are now investigating the discovery, which occurred on April 26th.

The bones, including a lower jaw and femur, were found during the excavation of a hole for an electrical post. The site is located in a remote, bushy area approximately 6 miles north of San Pedro Town. Police describe the remains as “old and calcified.”

According to reports, a local contractor alerted police after his team made the discovery. The area has been secured, and GPS coordinates have been recorded.

A full excavation of the site is planned for today. Investigators hope to uncover more remains, determine the identity of the deceased, and shed light on the circumstances surrounding their death.
