Wednesday, July 08, 2015. BMG: The voting at Holy Ghost Primary School in Dangriga came to a halt this afternoon due to a heavy rain with strong winds. And while the rain has subsided, voters are now being brought in a continuous line of vehicles to cast their vote.
Chrisbert Garcia, our journalist who is reporting from Dangriga says that the crowd this morning was much larger and it is believed that the heavy rain with strong winds that occurred this afternoon will definitely affect the overall voter turnout in the bye-election.
However, hundreds of dedicated UDP and PUP supporters remain undeterred and are sheltering under tiny tents as strong winds continue to blow.
Party chants and political arguments have been the highlight of the day and in some instances, tensions got so high that fights almost broke. Despite the unruly crowd, police officers and members of the Belize Defense Force line the streets to keep the peace.
