Saturday morning accident claims one life

By BBN Staff: An early morning accident on Saturday has claimed the life of Lionel Villanueva.

We have been unable to get official details from police. Love News published on its Love News Facebook page that Villanueva was travelling on the Philip Goldson Highway when he experienced mechanical problems at mile four around 3:30 this morning.

He got out of his sedan to push the vehicle to the side of the road when a van that was traveling to Belize City hit him.

We understand Villanueva died on impact. The driver of the van has been detained and authorities have obtained a urine sample from him. He has also been served with a notice of intended prosecution.

Villanueva is the nephew of Dr. Rene Villanueva, owner and CEO of RSV Media Center. He is also the brother of Love FM’s announcer, Margaret Lopez.

On its Facebook page, the Love News family today stated, “senior staff members of Love FM and Estereo Amor saw Lionel Villanueva grow up from a little boy to a man and father. He would frequent our offices and was always mannerly and full of humor. We send out our condolences to the Villanueva family especially to Love FM’s announcer, Margaret Lopez who is Lionel’s sister”.
