By BBN Staff: Yesterday, Minister of State for National Emergency Management, Hon. Edmond Castro was in the Stann Creek District handing over houses to victims of Hurricane Earl.

The Minister was accompanied by Area Representative for Dangriga, Hon. Frank “Papa” Mena and NEMO Dangriga Coordinator, Victor Castillo.

A total of five families received houses, 4 families in Dangriga, and one family in the village of Santa Rosa in Stann Creek District.

Through NEMO, the Government of Belize is constructing a total of 180 houses and more than 60 have been completed. Also, more than 80 roofs have also been repaired and more than 1,400 families have been assisted with materials to repair their homes in the four districts most affected by Hurricane Earl, namely Belize District, Cayo, Orange Walk and Stann Creek.

It is expected that the Government’s Hurricane Earl rebuilding efforts will be wrapped up by the end of November or early December, 2016.
