By BBN Staff: Reports reaching our newsroom is that last night, a Travellers liquors truck that was on its way to Belize City from Belmopan was robbed of $49,000 in cash.

The truck met a check point at mile 20 on the George Price Highway and stopped because one of the robbers was dressed in a police uniform (khaki shirt and navy blue pants). The “police” reportedly asked the driver for his license before holding up the 4 employees.

The employees were reportedly locked up in the back of the truck.

The culprits made good their escape with a backpack that had approximately $45,000 cash in various denominations and two cheques.

Police has issued a public advisory for drivers. Story here: http://www.breakingbelizenews.com/2016/12/13/public-alert-fake-checkpoints/
