Police checkpoints

Friday, August 15, 2014. DEVON YOUNG Reporting: Persons travelling to the north for the annual San Joaquin Fiesta will encounter heavy police presence.
That is because authorities in Corozal and Orange Walk have been conducting joint special operations in an effort to keep crime under control during the weekend event.
According to the officer commanding Corozal police Superintendent Andrew Ramirez, the police operations, including check points have so far resulted in the confiscation of small quantities of drugs.
The police special operations will continue throughout the weekend.
