By BBN Staff: On Sunday, several members of the Cayo Special Constables Committee attended a training facilitated by Cpl. Jason Jones, officer in charge of Community Policing for Cayo.
The vehicle-search training included theory and practical for the proper way police officers should approach and search vehicles.
The practical included search for drugs, weapons and explosives.
Chairman of the Cayo Special Constables, Alberto Palma told BBN that the training was very beneficial to the SC’s that attended. He said it was crucial because there are so many cautionary measures that officers must take before approaching a suspected vehicle.
“I am grateful that Cpl. Jones took the time to train our SC’s on this and I am sure that we will implement when we are on duty again,” Palma said.
The Cayo Special Constables and the Community policing office in San Ignacio continue to work together in the prevention of crime.
