Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates Sylvestre Castellanos

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government of Belize, today extended congratulations to Sylvestre Castellanos for his achievement as the first elected Belizean American to serve on the Waukegan Township.

Castellanos has been elected to serve for a four-year period on the Waukegan Township as a Waukegan Township Trustee. He will officially take up office on May 15, 2017.

The Waukegan Township is a governmental agency, dedicated and committed to providing quality services to enhance the health, safety and general well-being of the citizens.

The Township achieves these services by providing general assistance, housing for the homeless, services and programs for seniors, assistance to repatriates, the eradication of violence, maintenance of all roads in the unincorporated area, and assessment of property within the Township.

Currently, the Waukegan Township encompasses parts of four cities including; Waukegan, Beach Park, Park City and North Chicago.

The Township Board, comprised of four trustees and the supervisor, is the policy-making body of Waukegan Township.

Born in San Ignacio Town, Castellanos lives in Waukegan, Illinois, Chicago, U.S.A.

Castellanos is also an active member of the United Belizeans of Northern Illinois Association and actively engages with the Belizean diaspora in Northern Illinois.
