By BBN Staff: Top brass in the Ministry of Works (MOW) continue the unchecked abuse of public resources despite the country’s economic recession and the degrading state particularly of our rural access roads. This morning a photo showing two (2) MOW employees working directly in front of the well fenced, private home of Cecil Garbutt, Officer in Charge of the Ministry of Works, Cayo district was shared with BBN.

The task assigned to these MOW employees this morning was to wet only the section of road in front of Garbutt’s private home in San Ignacio. BBN does not know exactly what the tasks for the rest of the day will be for these two (2) MOW employees who are working on this critical portion of the nation’s infrastructure. Of interest though is that Garbutt is currently doing construction at his private home and San Ignacio residents have repeatedly reported to BBN that they have seen MOW employees in and out of Garbutt’s property during regular working ours.

Recently, an attempt was made to intimidate Louis Wade, owner of Plus TV and Shamax Productions, as he used a drone and filmed workers and equipment working at the Valley of Peace farm of Minister of Works, Rene Montero as well as the nearby farm of his CEO, Errol Gentle. Wade has been gathering information over the last six (6) months and sources tell BBN that he will soon be exposing the abuse of government resources and alleged corruption by the top brass in the Ministry of Works in a full-fledged ‘Rise and Shine’ morning show.

Sources working within the Ministry of Works tell BBN that the use of MOW equipment and workers to do private work for the top brass is now a rabid culture in the Ministry and Garbutt may just be following the example of his superiors. BBN staff witnessed, and Cayo residents reported seeing, the MOW vehicle transporting workers to the Valley of Peace area on a regular basis. BBN would hope that these workers and their equipment were being used to improve the roads in the Valley of Peace area, and not the actual private farms of the Minister and his CEO, and the access road leading to their private farms.
