By BBN Staff: A candlelight vigil will be held on Friday, April 6, 2017 in San Ignacio Town.

The vigil is being organized for residents to take a stand against the high level of crime in their communities.

Within the last two months, five people have been murdered in their communities. There have also been alcohol related incidents.

The vigil is being organized by Michel Chebat, Daniel Silva and Orlando Habet.

The Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, Earl Trapp has been invited to attend the vigil.

Organizers of the vigil told BBN that they will be delivering petitions with suggestions to assist and work with the communities to lessen crime and violence in the community.

The petitions will be delivered to the Officer Commanding San Ignacio Police, Supt. Richard Rosado and the Mayor of the Twin Towns.

Residents are encouraged to wear white to symbolize the cleaning of crime in their communities.
