Breaking: Police officer and special constable charged for contraband activity in Orange Walk

By BBN Staff: An official report was issued today in which the Commissioner of Police, Allen Whylie thanked Jules Vasquez of channel 7 for providing him a copy of the video of contraband activity by members of the Belize Police Department in the Botes area of Orange Walk.

The statement said that Whylie received the video on Wednesday evening and he immediately directed the Acting Commanding Officer of the Orange Walk Formation, Inspector Jose Mendez to carry out an investigation into the matter.

The officers in the video were identified as Police Constable #1349 Jorge Ascurio of the Orange Walk formation and Alfredo Ismael Gongora a voluntary Special Constable.

Today, PC Ascurio was charged for an “Act of Prejudice to Good Order and Discipline” and placed on interdiction while Alfredo Gongora was suspended from the Special Constable Program.

The Commissioner thanked the public for their continued support and wished all a safe and blessed Easter Holiday.
