By BBN Staff: Today, the Elections and Boundaries department announced that nomination of candidates for election in the upcoming Town and City Council elections will take place on Wednesday, February 21, in their respective municipalities.

Nomination forms can be obtained at the Elections and Boundaries Registration Offices in the municipalities.

Every candidate shall be proposed by two other persons whose names appear on the Register of Electors of their municipality and shall deliver to the Returning Officer his written consent to be so nominated.

Every candidate shall deposit with the returning officer $50 in Belize City and $25 in other municipalities.

If more candidates are nominated than there shall be seats to be filled, a Municipal Election of members to the city and town councils shall be held on Wednesday, March 7.
