Girl, 17, almost raped in northern Belize

BBN Staff: A 17-year-old female was almost raped on Sunday night in northern Belize.

She was reportedly riding her bicycle with a six-year-old boy sometime around 7:00 p.m. in San Andres village.

According to reports, a Hispanic man appeared and pushed them off the bicycle. He then tried to tear off her clothes in an attempt to rape her.

However, a woman rushed to her assistance at which point the attacker fled the scene.

Police have since detained three men but one has already been positively identified as the attacker.

He remains detained pending charges.
