A Chinese businessman of Belize city told police that he and an employee arrived at his shop, Tommy’s Wholesale on Central American Boulevard when they were confronted by two men.
One of the men had a gun and tried to shoot the businessman with it.The gun snapped, and the Chinese businessman then drew his licensed weapon and fired several shots.
Both men then made good their escape.
During the exchange of fire, the employee, identified as Chester Humas sustained a gunshot injury.
He is listed in stable condition.
Police have since detained one person in connection with this incident.
Police are investigating.
