The council says that it recognizes that the territorial dispute between Belize and Guatemala ought to be resolved and as such, they have endeavored to present differing sides in addressing this national issue.
Their campaign has been focused in Garifuna Communities of Barranco, Punta Gorda, Seine Bight, Georgetown, Hopkins, and Dangriga.
“The National Garifuna Council is cognizant of the fact that our people are one of the indigenous group that occupies the southern districts, and any decision made inevitably affects us,” the statement said.
The council encourages Belizeans to go out and vote and to empower themselves to make an informed decision on Referendum Day.
