Police release tear gas to break up fight at Agric show grounds

By BBN Staff: Activities at the agric show this weekend was generally calm and peaceful if it was not for an incident near the Love FM stage where police had to release tear gas.

Eyewitnesses report to BBN that a woman was dancing with a man when the man she was dancing with was stabbed by another man.

The incident between the two (2) men ended in a larger brawl that was getting out of control.

Police reacted by releasing tear gas in the crowd and the brawl was eventually broken up

The incident resulted in several persons taken by ambulance to the Central Regional Hospital.

Those taken to the hospital were taken mostly due to physical injuries and stab wounds. However, BBN understands that many people were affected by the tear gas released by the police.

Agric show officials tell BBN that the Belize Police Department generally did a great job keeping things under control and maintaining this year’s event as a peaceful place for family entertainment.
