Mason bringing out bigs guns, will bring in an international lawyer

By BBN Staff: Accused murderer William “Danny” Mason, has declared that he will be importing a lawyer to defend him in his upcoming trial for the murder of Pastor Llewelly Lucas.Mason showed up for court in Belmopan today when he made the announcement, after his previous attorney, Herbert Panton, decided to leave the case unceremoniously in March. Mason is due back in court on May 14.

He stands accused with four other men: Ashton Vanegas, Keiron Fernandez, Terrence Fernandez, and Ernest Henry Castillo, all of whom were also being represented by Panton. Two of them have gotten attorneys appointed by the court, while the other two are still without legal counsel.

The case has gained national and international attention and is being called the “trial of the decade” given Mason’s apparent connections to numerous politicians, seated Ministers of Government and ranking members of the Belize Police Department.
