Post mortem reveals that eight weeks old child died from ‘battered child syndrome’

By BBN Staff: On June 1st, police visited the Western Regional Hospital (WRH).

There, they saw an eight weeks old child dead.

The father of the child told officers that he was feeding the child when the child began to experience difficulties breathing.

He then transported the child to the WRH where the child was pronounced dead.

Both parents were subsequently detained.

A post mortem late this evening revealed that the child died of fracture to the head and back, multiple skull fracture and head trauma consistent with Battered Child Syndrome.
