By BBN Staff: Minister of National Security John Saldivar is in the Republic of China (Taiwan) this week to mark the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations between Belize and Taiwan.
On his five-day tour, Saldivar is scheduled to hold meetings with David Lee, the Head of Taiwan’s National Security Council; Yen De-fa, Taiwan’s Minister of Defense, and Miguel Tsao, Taiwan’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saldivar will also visit Taiwan’s Ocean Affairs Council, Coast Guard Administration, the military’s top research institution, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, and a number of military facilities as well as local shipbuilders to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s latest developments in related fields.
Taiwan recently sent its Transportation Minister, Lin Chia-lung to Belize on a trip to mark the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations.
Belize remains one of the 17 diplomatic allies that Taiwan has left after many countries severed diplomatic ties in favor of the People’s Republic of China.
