No school tomorrow, teachers headed to protest

Posted: Wednesday, February 19, 2020. 4:02 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced that it is granting a “non-school day” for tomorrow, Thursday, February 20 to all government and government-aided schools.

The Ministry said that the day will be granted to safeguard its resources, financial and otherwise. The MOE did note that it will be working with stakeholders to ensure that Belize’s children receive the 180 contact days as required by law.

The granting of the non-school day follows the announcement that the Belize National Teacher’s Union (BNTU) will be joining the peaceful demonstration being spearheaded by the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) being held tomorrow.
