Belize Medical and Dental Association: “Leaders of this country do not accept constructive criticism”

Posted: Tuesday, April 14, 2020. 11:18 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Medical and Dental Association (BMDA) issued a statement informing the public that their members have not been able to participate in meetings regarding decision making for the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The BMDA represents the medical community of Belize and it is unacceptable that the doctors of this country do not have a say in this matter. We have been vocal about our concerns and it is obvious that now we are being victimized because of it,” the statement noted.

In addition, the BMDA says that their representative was locked out of a virtual task force meeting on April 8 at 1:30 p.m.

The BMDA says that it is on the side of the doctors and the public of Belize.

“The leaders of this country do not accept constructive criticism. Everything is micro managed by a small group of individuals,” the association expressed.

The association says that it is also dissatisfied with insufficient testing done since COVID-19 has reached community spread level in Belize.

The association encourages everyone to wear a face mask and practice social distancing and regular hand washing.
