Was incense the cause of early morning fire?

By BBN Staff: Authorities are investigating the cause of an early morning fire in Belize City this morning that destroyed the upper flat of a two-story house.

Authorities say that the fire started just after 6:00 a.m. on Racoon Street Extension.

The occupant, Louis. Belisle, 76, told authorities that he was awoken by the intense heat in the house and when he got up, he discovered that his living room was on fire. He added that the only thing he recalled lighting in his living room was incense.

Members of the Belize National Fire Service extinguished the blaze and photographed the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time.
