By Aaron Humes: Overnight, the office of the Director of Health Services reported that the percentage of active cases of COVID-19 in Belize is steady at 34.2 percent.

Of the country’s 1,854 active cases, 1,196 are recovered; 634 are active, and 24 are dead.

29 new cases were identified on Sunday in 5 districts, while 31 recoveries were also reported.

Corozal Town accounts for half, 7, of the District’s 14 new cases. The others are in the villages of Louisville, Progresso, San Andres, Caledonia, Libertad, Chan Chen, and Chunox.

Belize City has three new cases and a fourth is originally from Calcutta village in Corozal but diagnosed here.

Belmopan, the national capital, accounts for five new cases.

One case was reported on the Stann Creek District side of Bella Vista Village, while Toledo has five new cases in the village of Big Falls.

The former epicenters of Orange Walk District and San Pedro Town have not reported any new cases in the batch of 252 tests done.

This week, the Ministry of Health asks Belizeans to follow its activities on this and other social media forums to address the topic of chronic diseases and its link to COVID-19.

We’ll have more on this through the course of the day. Stay safe all!
