Over 5,600 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Belize, deaths exceed 140

By BBN Staff: Belize continues to struggle to contain the spread of COVID-19, with the number of infections surpassing 5,600 as of yesterday, November 28, and the number of deaths climbing above 140.

The latest data from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), shows that the total confirmed cases stand at 5,647and the number of deaths stands at 144. Males make up 99 of the total deaths and females the remaining 45.

There are 2,431 active cases, with another 2,307 suspected cases under investigation. Males make up 1,277 of the total active cases and 1,154 of them are females.

Meanwhile, 3,072 people have recovered from the virus.

Due to the increasing number of infections and deaths, the Ministry has rolled out several interventions, including plans to scale up testing and the reinstitution of a curfew between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
