Saint Martins Credit Union ends the year by giving back to the community!

By BBN Staff: St. Martins Credit Union in San Ignacio Town has been providing savings, loans, and financial services since 1949! This year, due to all the unforeseen events that the community and country faced, St. Martin’s decided that there was no better way to end the year than by giving back to the community! 

The Board of Directors being aware that many of their members and people in the surrounding communities have been affected by the floods, the pandemic, and harsh economic situations decided to go the extra mile and allocate $5,000 towards a food hamper drive as a way of giving back and helping others. Members and non-member families from Santa Familia, Bullet Tree, Benque Viejo, and Calla Creek villages were chosen to receive food hampers which were distributed on Sunday, December 20th by a team of staff members headed by the General Manager Mr. Raymond Tzul. These food hampers included a ham along with other food items for a complete Christmas meal.

Usually, their annual Christmas concert would draw crowds; however, in light of the pandemic, they thought it best to conduct a live event via their Facebook page on December 18th 2020. Their annual St. Martins Credit Union Raffle was conducted live online with giveaways that included home appliances, food items, food hampers, cash, and even toys for junior account holders! To St. Martin’s Credit Union, the wellness of the surrounding community is of utmost importance and they do believe it is completely vital to give back and support the community in whatever way they can!
