BREAKING: Minister of Health confirms termination of driver

Posted: Tuesday, May 25, 2021. 12:39 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat has confirmed by statement his decision to fire driver and longtime supporter, Hamid Awe.

Awe was recorded harassing and threatening with occasionally coarse language, police officers in San Ignacio Town on Thursday night.

The Minister’s statement called the confrontation “unpleasant, unnecessary and unfortunate, and I take this opportunity to express my regrets and apology to the BPD.”

While Awe, according to the Minister, complained of allegedly brutal and unfair treatment of his son by cops, he now regrets his actions and will apologize to those involved personally.

The Minister concludes, “As leaders and servants of the people we swore an oath to uphold the highest standards in office. We must obey the rule of law, and those around us can never feel as if they are specially privileged to act without repercussions.”
